Students of the Waretown Elementary School exhibited one of their most striking displays yet. This year’s new art teacher, Gretchen Short, has inspired these young artists by her deep understanding of many different cultures, artists and methods. As one enters the Waretown branch’s meeting room, uninhibited colors appear to dance wildly along the walls. One can view works inspired by such artists as Paul Klee, Pablo Picasso, and Van Gogh. These students also learned methods using Polish Wycinanki (cut paper designs) and Amate Bark painting (colorful paintings done on paper made from bark).

Naturalist, Russell Juleg, presented a very convincing program promoting an environmentally conscious approach to gardening. Besides expressing the numerous reasons to conserve our Pinelands ecosystem, he displayed a colorful photo show of available native plants. Many helpful suggestions were given to help gardeners make their property a naturally beautiful community asset.
