Ocean County Library customers can now borrow audio books in a new format, Playaway.
Playaway arrived at select Ocean County Library branches February 17. Adult titles are housed at the Toms River, Stafford and Point Pleasant Borough branches. Children’s titles are located at the Manchester and Berkeley branches.
All Playaway titles are available for request and can be barrowed for up to two weeks.
Playaway is an audio book in a preloaded digital format similar to a MP3 player. Unlike the MP3 player, the recording cannot be altered by the user. It is compact, smaller than a deck of playing cards, light weight.
All that is required for use by customers is an AAA battery and headphones.
Playaway can be heard through headphones or any I-Pod compatible speakers or listening system.
“Playaway’s simple functionality and immediate usability allow our customers to enjoy the audio version on many bestselling books,” said collections department Supervising Librarian Scott Wolpert.
