On Wednesday, December 16th at 4:00 at the Little Egg Harbor Library there was a crowd of excited children ready to decorate Gingerbread cookies.
Teen volunteers helped with the icing decorations. Each child received their own cup of icing to glue the candies onto the gingerbread cookies.
The festive program helped to spread holiday cheer on parents and children’s faces. The program was sponsored by the Friends of Little Egg Harbor Library.

The Gates Laptop Computers were useful to the public at the Little Egg Harbor Library on Tuesday, October 13th . Numerous patrons came in looking for Word Processing and the Internet for school assignments. The Cybrary Q was filled starting around 4 and was in constant use all night long. Because of the Gates computers many students and patrons were able to complete their assignments and searches on the computers. The Laptops really helped us out! We could use a few in the Children’s Area!

Kathy Devitt of Music and Me made music at the Little Egg Harbor Public Library on Wednesday, July 22nd. There were 2 sessions with an attendance of over 40 boys and girls with their caregivers. Music and Me is a parent/child music class for caregivers and their infants, toddlers and preschool age children.  During the session Kathy Devitt played musical games such as “Old MacDonald”.  Kathy Devitt also introduced the boys and girls to musical instruments. The Wednesday Evening English Conversation group makes holiday cookies!

Donna Majchrzak and June Engel performed a Thanksgiving Puppet show for a big crowd at the Little Egg Harbor branch.

Donna Majchrzak brought a story-time outreach program to the Little Egg Harbor Preschool. The children enjoyed listening to some Thanksgiving Day themed stories.

Arlene Stinziano helps out with the Outreach to Pre-K classes at the George J. Mitchell Elementary School by sharing Caps for Sale and The Little Red Hen.

Little Egg Harbor Library celebrated its Annual Halloween Parade on October 28.  We had moms, dads, grandma’s and grandpa’s, and: a bunny, a skunk, Bob the Builder, a firefighter, a little fairy, a pumpkin, a couple of ducks, a scarecrow, a little vampire, a bumblebee, a couple of princesses, a cowboy, ladybug, Mickey & Minnie Mouse, and a Saint Bernard.  The parade was led by a Hula Girl (Children’s Librarian Donna Majchrzak) and a Baby (Library Assistant June Engel).  Crafts, games, and snacks followed the parade.

Little Egg Harbor hosted a Harp Concert on Saturday June 14, 2008 featuring local teen, Jacqueline Hartley.

The concert brought out an enthusiastic crowd of all ages. Jacqueline performed reels, jigs, ballads, and an original composition. During the performance, Jacqueline explained the nuances of the harp and described the elements of each piece of music.

Jacqueline Hartley won first place in the Celtic Harp at the Comhaltas Fleadh Cheoil – MidAtlantic Region of North America this past April. She will go on to a global competition in August 2008 in Tullamore, Ireland.
