“The Force” was with the Brick branch Star Wars program

The Force was most definitely with the Brick Branch as they celebrated all things Star Wars with almost 200 Star Wars fans on Friday November 11.

Those attending the program created light sabers, made R2-D2 and C-3PO finger puppets, Death Star mobiles and had a Jedi Holocron Hunt as they hung out with the members of the 501st Northeast Remnant.

“We’ve never seen so many epic battles between Darth Vader and our Star Wars devotees! A galactically good time was had by one and all” said Michelle Brzozowski Senior Librarian.

Star Wars Camp at Brick

The Force was certainly with the Brick branch as they held a successful Star Wars Camp in July. The first week participants made light sabers, played “pin the light saber on Obi-Wan” and learned how to use the Force. The second, there was a costume party with a fantastic costume runway created by some artistic SAIL volunteers. The final night the camp hosted some members of the 501st Northeast Remnant. They came dressed in their costumes and surprised the Star Wars campers by bringing a fully-functioning R2-D2! The kids and parents had a great time getting autographs and having their pictures taken with some of their favorite Star Wars characters. Everyone can hardly wait until next July’s Star Wars Camp!

In a galaxy far, far away…

On July 27th, the Long Beach Island library held a Star Wars program called “Feel the Force: Jedi Training!” The program was a craft party. The children made crafts such as: paper bag Yodas, paper bag Chewbaccas, light sabers, TIE fighters, and Jedi masks. There was also a raffle in which one child won a goodie bag filled with Star Wars books. Each child also received a Jedi Certificate at the end of program, earning them the title of Jedi Knight. We had two special guest appearances: a life-size R2D2 and a storm trooper. We had a blast!
