Gangwise @ Lakewood: best turnout yet!

Lt. Edwin Torres

The Lakewood branch hosted Lt. Edwin Torres who presented his Gangwise program Wednesday, Oct. 20.  Great turnout with more than 100 attending!  In fact, he said it was one of the best adult turn outs he’s seen for his program and, as far as the teens portion, it was the best turnout yet.

The two-and-a-half hour program covered gang recognition, a brief history of contemporary major gangs that have a presence in NJ, and steps one can use to deter children from joining gangs.

He will speak again at the following branches:

Toms River, Tue. Nov. 16

Brick, Thur. Dec. 9

Lacey, Thur. Jan 13.

All sessions begin at 6 p.m.  Professional development certificates are provided.  Teens, parents, educators, clergy and the public are invited to attend.  Registration is required.
