MANCHESTER – The Manchester Library’s Quilting Bee will meet on Friday, October 14, and Friday, October 28 from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm. During our meetings, we work on both individual and group projects. We share ideas, tell stories through our quilting patterns and through our conversations, and form friendships. New members are always welcome; no experience is necessary. Demonstrations of various quilting techniques are given during the first meeting of the month. At the October 14 meeting, participants will have the opportunity to watch English Paper Piecing.

Meetings are usually held on the second and fourth Friday of each month. There is no need to register for this free adult program! For more information, please call (732) 657-7600 or go online to

The Manchester Branch of the Ocean County Library is located at 21 Colonial Drive in Manchester Township.

Volunteers Wanted

MANCHESTER – Are you a patient, detail-oriented person who wants to volunteer your time? If so, consider joining the “Adopt-A-Shelf” program at the Manchester Branch Library. Responsibilities include “reading the shelves” (ensuring that items are in the correct Dewey Decimal order), straightening books, and tightening the book ends. Participants must be able to follow directions, work well independently, and stand and squat repeatedly. You may work hours that are convenient for you. A commitment of at least six months is required.

If you are interested in assisting with one of the most important jobs in the Library, please register for one of our training sessions. Sessions will be held on Tuesday, October 18, at 10:00 a.m. and on Wednesday, October 26, at 6:30 p.m. Attendance is limited to eight people per session. To register, please go to or call (732) 657-7600. If you need additional information about our “Adopt-A-Shelf” program, please call Wendi Smolowitz, Senior Librarian, at (732) 657-7600, ext. 4113.
