Teen Read Week: Teen Favorites Contest @ Stafford

MANAHAWKIN – The Stafford branch of the Ocean County Library will celebrate Teen Read Week™ (October 14-20, 2012) with a special program on Thursday, October 18th, at 7 pm.  Teens are invited to come represent their favorite books in a competition for a variety of prizes.  Thousands of libraries, schools and bookstore across the country will hold similar events centered on this year’s theme, It Came from the Library, which dares teens to read for the fun of it!

Teen Read Week is a time to celebrate reading for fun and encourage teens to take advantage of reading in all its forms —books and magazines, e-books, audiobooks and more — and become regular library users. It is the national adolescent literacy initiative of the Young Adult Library Services Association (YALSA), a division of the American Library Association.  Teen Read Week™ is held annually during the third week of October. An updated list of sponsors and supporting organizations can be found at the Web site, http://www.ala.org/teenread.

This program is free and open to teens in grades 7-12.  The Stafford branch is located at 129 N. Main St. in Manahawkin.  Please register online at http://www.theoceancountylibrary.org or by phone at 609-597-3381.
