MANCHESTER BRANCH LIBRARY TO OFFER VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY FOR ADULTS

MANCHESTER– Manchester Branch Library is looking for adult volunteers to help keep the books in their correct order on our shelves. This is a good opportunity for people with busy or variable schedules because you can put in your time whenever the library is open. We only require that you are able to follow instructions, work independently, and make a commitment of at least six months.

Please contact Wendi at 732.657.7600, extension 4113 for more information and/or to sign up. You will be asked to attend one, 2-hour training and information session. The choices of times are Wednesday, November 7 from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm or Tuesday, November 27 from 10:00 am to 12:00 noon.

The Manchester Branch of the Ocean County Library is located at 21 Colonial Drive in Manchester Township.

SPONSER E-READER EXPO

MANCHESTER – On Thursday, November 1 staff from Best Buy in Manahawkin will be on hand at the Manchester Branch Library from 7:00 pm to 8:30 pm to help you with your decisions about purchasing an e-reader. They will explain the differences between the Kindle, Nook, and iPad. You will also have the opportunity to try out each of these devices and participate in a raffle for a gift card. Please note that this workshop is designed for individuals who are considering buying an e- reader. It is not a class for teaching those already owning such devices how to use them. Technological assistance for devices will not be offered.

MANCHESTER BRANCH LIBRARY FRIENDS

TO SPONSOR NOVEMBER ART EXHIBIT AND RECEPTION

MANCHESTER, NJ– OnSaturday, November 3, the Manchester Branch Library Friends group will host a reception to take place at the library starting at 2:00 pm to honor members of the Crestwood Artists Guild whose paintings done in various styles and mediums will be on display in the library’s meeting room throughout the month of November. The public is invited to drop in to see the display, share light refreshments, meet the artists and listen to them discuss their creations.

The reception is open to the adult public, free of charge. There is no advance registration.

Interested parties are also permitted to stop by to view this exhibit during the library’s regular business hours whenever the meeting room is available.  Calling the library beforehand at 732.657.7600 is recommended.

 

MANCHESTER BRANCH LIBRARY TO SHOW

“GIRL IN PROGRESS”

MANCHESTER – The Manchester Branch Library will screen the film, “Girl in Progress” on Wednesday, November 7, at 2:00 p.m. and again at 6:00 pm. See this popular comedy/drama on a large screen without paying the admission fee of a movie theater! 

As single mom Grace (Eva Mendes) juggles work, bills, and her affair with a married doctor (Matthew Modine), her daughter, Ansiedad (Cierra Ramirez) plots a shortcut to adulthood after finding inspiration in the coming-of-age stories she’s reading for school.

This PG13-rated movie is part of the library’s Feature Film Series. It is 93 minutes long. Although registration is not required, early arrival is recommended.
