OCL recognized by NJ Theatre Alliance Monday

The New Jersey Theatre Alliance presented the Ocean County Library with its Community Recognition Award Monday for the library’s participation in the Alliance’s program.

The library has been a venue partner for The Stages Festival since the program’s inception, said John McEwen, Executive Director of the Alliance, and has hosted about ten Alliance productions each year.

Ruth Fost, Producing Artistic Director of the Pushcart Players and Alliance trustee, presented the award to Supervising Librarian Glynis Wray.

In accepting the award, Wray said, “We believe in the strength of words.  And just as history is brought to life by reading good novels, ideas are developed in the crucible of the theater where characters experiment with concepts, test them on each other and create a philosophy, for good or bad, which can become the basis for one’s life.”

“Ocean County Library is proud to be a part of that adventure these many years and look forward to continued participation in your program,” she said.

The New Jersey Theatre Alliance is a statewide nonprofit service organization dedicated to promoting, developing and nurturing professional theatre.
