GET READY FOR PROM AT THE MANCHESTER BRANCH LIBRARY

MANCHESTER–Style in Action Hair Studio will offer a “Pre Prom Primping” workshop at the Manchester library branch Monday April 1 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Stylists from the salon will give hair and makeup tips to high school students planning to attend their proms. They will also distribute free, gently-worn formal dresses and accessories that were donated by the public, with a limit of one per student.

WRITER’S CIRCLE TO HOLD MEETINGS

AT THE MANCHESTER BRANCH LIBRARY

 MANCHESTER –The Manchester library branch’s Writer’s Circle will hold its semi-monthly meetings on Tuesdays April 2 and 16 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.

During the meetings authors critique each other’s works and discuss issues pertinent to their craft.  Participants can receive answers to questions about the writing and the publication process. 

Learn the steps involved in copyrighting a written work and how to go about finding an agent. Find out how others cope with writer’s block and get feedback on your manuscript before sending it to a publisher.

This program is open to the adult public, free of charge. There is no registration.

 

MANCHESTER BRANCH LIBRARY TO SHOW “SKYFALL”

MANCHESTER – The Manchester library branch will screen the film, “Skyfall”  Wednesday April 3 at 2 p.m. and again at 6 pm. See this popular action/adventure film on a large screen without paying the admission fee of a movie theater!   

When MI6 comes under attack, Agent 007 (Daniel Craig) must track down and destroy the threat, even though Bond’s loyalty to M is tested when her past comes back to haunt her.

This PG13-rated movie is part of the library’s Feature Film Series. It is 143 minutes long. Although registration is not required, early arrival is recommended.

 

MANCHESTER BRANCH LIBRARY TO OFFER

SELF-MANAGEMENT WORKSHOP FOR SUFFERERS OF CHRONIC DISEASES

MANCHESTER – Beginning on Friday, April 5 and running for six consecutive Fridays at 2 p.m., the Manchester library branch will offer a fun and practical course to help individuals with chronic conditions overcome daily challenges and maintain an active and fulfilling life.

In the “Take Control of Your Health” program, trained peer leaders will teach people new ways to manage the symptoms of chronic pain and fatigue by overcoming depression, managing stress, improving communication skills, increasing your energy and becoming stronger in mind and body.

It will also include information about healthy eating, weight management, decision making, fall prevention and sleeping better.  Refreshments will be provided.

This free program is part of the library’s “Chapters of Health” series. It is open to all adults but space is limited to 25 people so registration is mandatory. Sign up once for all six sessions at www.theoceancountylibrary.org or telephone (732) 657-7600.
