Warm Hearted Country comes to OCL

TOMS RIVER – When was the last time you heard bongos played during a Country Music concert?

The group Warm Hearted Country uses them regularly and will bring them out when the group performs at three Ocean County Library branches this summer.

The six-person group, formed in 2003 by Laurie and Alice Dorisio, plays classic country music, Bluegrass, and Gospel.

Alice has been performing country music for about 50 years, mostly in family bands. Laurie’s love of country and bluegrass music goes back to her childhood when she began singing with her Mom at age 6.

The other members of the Warm Hearted Country band are Alice’s son Bruce Bunning on harmonica; Diane Bunning playing all the percussion with the exception of the snare drum and bongos; Dave Thomas on lead guitar and mandolin; and Alan Chambers on bass.

This fine group of talented musicians come with much experience and work wonderfully together in creating the signature and unique sound of Warm Hearted Country!

The group debuted at the Albert Music Hall in Waretown and has performed at many other venues, including the Pine Barrens Jamboree at Wells Mills Park, and the Pinelands Charge Bluegrass Gospel Festival at Batsto State Park. They have also showcased for the Acoustic Musicians Guild at the Ocean County Library.

The group will perform at:

Little Egg Harbor branch, Wednesday July 24 at 7 p.m., 290 Mathistown Rd., (609) 294-1197.

Manchester branch, Saturday Aug. 3 at 11 a.m. 21 Colonial Dr., (732) 657-7600.
