Manchester branch to show movie “Lucky”

MANCHESTER – The Manchester library branch will screen, “Lucky” on Wednesday Nov. 27 at noon, giving you the chance to see this popular foreign film on a large screen without paying the admission fee of a movie theater.

In South Africa, over the grave of his dead mother, 10 year old Lucky promises to make something of himself. Homeless, he leaves his remote Zulu village for the big city with the hope of going to school. He eventually is taken in by an elderly Indian woman with an inherent fear of Africans. Together, unable to speak each other’s language, they develop an unlikely bond.

The dialogue is in Zulu, Hindi and English with English subtitles and is 100 minutes long. It is part of the library’s monthly Foreign/Independent Film Series.  Registration is not required. This program is open all ages although it is geared toward adults.

The Manchester branch of the Ocean County Library is located at 21 Colonial Drive in Manchester Township. For more information call 732.657.7600 or go online to
