TOMS RIVER – The Ocean County Library is pleased to announce that it will host a two-gallery exhibit by notable Ocean County artist Mark Retacco this January.

Entitled “Retrospective”, the exhibit features selected paintings, mixed-media works, and hanging sculptures celebrating Retacco’s twenty-year tenure as a local creator and arts mentor.

Recently honored by the Ocean County Board of Chosen Freeholders for his dedication to the advancement of local art and culture, Retacco has worked with the Toms River Artists Community (TRAC), the Ocean County Artists Guild, and the recently-unveiled Downtown Toms River Community Mural Project.  As the host of Ocean Happening, an online lifestyle magazine, he seeks to broaden public awareness of cultural events in our county.

Retacco’s artwork has been featured on MTV’s Real World and The Wendy Williams Show.  A painting from his Blind Venus series now resides in the permanent collection of the William J. Clinton Presidental Library in Little Rock, Arkansas.

“My paint brush takes me on a journey of happiness, despair, and self-discovery,” he states.

This exhibit is free and open to the public.  For more information, please contact the Toms River branch of the Ocean County Library at (732)349-6200 xt. 5112, or visit our website at www.theoceancountylibrary.org
