LBI temporarily closed due to roof repairs

The Long Beach Island branch of the Ocean County Library will be closed for the next three to four weeks while roof and ceiling repairs are made, according to Ocean County Library Director Susan Quinn.

The branch, located at 217 S. Central Ave. Surf City closed Feb. 10 after an inspection by library facilities staff revealed damage to a section of the interior ceiling.

The building’s facilities were reviewed further this week by library facilities staff and the county architect.  The initial inspection revealed that a portion of the interior ceiling was damaged due to a roof leak.

The branch was previously scheduled for roof repairs and a contract was awarded on Dec. 4, 2013 to MTB, LLC with the work pending a start date.

“While this branch is temporarily closed we invite our regular branch visitors to borrow or return materials and enjoy library programs at any of our 20 Ocean County Library branches,’’ Quinn said.

Customers can also access many resources from their home through the library’s website http://www.theoceancountylibrary.org or by calling 732-349-6200 or 609-971-0514.

Long Beach Island branch customers may pick up requested items at the Stafford branch of the Ocean County Library located at 129 N. Main Street. The branch can be reached at 609-597-3381.

The book drops located at the Long Beach Island branch will remain available for the return of items.
