MANCHESTER BRANCH LIBRARY TO OFFER SELF-MANAGEMENT WORKSHOP FOR SUFFERERS OF CHRONIC DISEASES

MANCHESTER – A six-week course will be offered at the Manchester branch that is designed help individuals with chronic conditions overcome daily challenges and maintain an active and fulfilling life.

“Take Control of your Life” will begin Thursday May 1, run from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., and offer fun and practical classes. Trained peer leaders will teach new ways to manage the symptoms of chronic pain and fatigue, overcome depression, manage anger and stress, improve communication skills, increase energy and become stronger in mind and body. Information about healthy eating, weight management, decision making, fall prevention and sleeping better will also be included.

The goals of this workshop are to make a person more active, confident and feel less alone with his or her illness.

This free program is part of the library’s “Chapter of Health” and is open to all adults. Space is limited to 20 people so registration is mandatory. Sign up once for all six sessions online at www.theoceancountylibrary.org or telephone 732-657-7600.
