The '50s revisited the Manchester branch back in August 2008.

The ’50s revisited the Manchester branch back in August 2008.

MANCHESTER –  Hey daddy-o, break out the poodle skirts, bobby socks and Brylcreem because Ocean County Library’s Manchester branch, 21 Colonial Dr., will host a ‘50s Day noon to 5 p.m. Saturday June 14 and you’re invited to attend.

Bonnie Nadley-Silvestri, a dancer on the television series “American Bandstand” (1961), will tell about her experiences on the show and the music-personalities she met.  Daniel’s Ballroom, Toms River, will give lessons on the dances of that time, and that will be followed up with a concert by The Jersey Shore Roustabouts. So bring your lawn chairs and blankets for a rocking good time.

In addition, the Vintage Automobile Club of Ocean County will display classic cars and the Friends of the Manchester Library Branch will prepare refreshments.

The event will also include activities for children and teens.

‘50s Day will be held rain or shine.

So slip me some skin and hop on over for some real old-school fun.

The program is free and open to the public. For updates telephone the branch 732-657-7600 or visit the library’s website www.theoceancountylibrary.org , click on the “Events & News” icon, then click on “Calendar of Events.”
