Horizon van to promote good health @ Manchester

MANCHESTER–Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield’s “Blue to You” van will make its quarterly stop from 9 a.m. to noon Friday June 20, at the Manchester Branch, at 21 Colonial Dr.

People will be able to learn about local wellness activities and initiatives and use the van’s touchscreen TVs to look up healthcare information and watch informative videos. If a nurse is available wellness checks for blood pressure, glucose, cholesterol and BMI can also be provided.

Additionally, Horizon members will be able to meet with a company advisor and discuss recent claims, billings, and other account issues. All this plus more will be offered right from the “Blue to You” van in the parking lot.

Staff from the van will discuss “Forks and Fears: Eat Healthfully and Enjoy It!” in the library’s meeting room at 10 a.m. Representatives will show you how to eat healthy while dining with friends and family both at home and when eating out. Easy techniques and tips will be demonstrated using commonly encountered scenarios from real life to help you stay on track. There is no registration.

The “Blue to You” service is being offered as part of the “Chapters of Health” program series and is the result of a partnership between Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield and the library. It is open to the adult public free of charge on a first come first serve basis. You do not have to be a Horizon subscriber to take advantage of the van’s educational and wellness offerings.
