New Jersey Symphony Orchestra to explore “Hispanic Roots” @ Toms River

TOMS RIVER –  The Toms River Branch of the Ocean County Library, 101 Washington St., will host the New Jersey Symphony Orchestra Chamber Players as they present “Hispanic Roots” 2 p.m. Saturday June 21.

Celebrate Hispanic cultures with this concert devoted to the music of some of Latin America’s most distinguished composers.  Pioneering Latin American composers produced a rich legacy of music in the 19th and early 20th centuries.  That music combined western classical traditions with indigenous folk songs and rhythms, creating distinct national styles in countries such as Argentina, Cuba and Mexico and inspiring future generations of musicians.

This program is free and open to the public but registration is required. To register, telephone the operator at (732) 349-6200 or (609) 971-0514 or go to the library’s website , click on the “Events & News” icon, then click on “Calendar of Events.”

The program is sponsored by an OceanFirst Foundation Arts and Cultural Grant that was presented to the orchestra to support its Resources for Education and Community Harmony (REACH) program.

The REACH program sends smaller orchestras out to the community and enables the NJSO to engage more audiences throughout the state. It also allows the orchestra to customize a program and meet the specific needs of an audience.
