TOMS RIVER – The Toms River Branch of the Ocean County Library will host “Healing the Brokenness,” a photography exhibit by Jeff Sayre from August 1 through August 31. A reception for the artist will be held from 2-4 p.m. Saturday August 9.

Sayre brings a deep appreciation to nature photography. The inspiration for this exhibit came from seeing life and nature return after the devastation of Super Storm Sandy. Sayre said, “After Super Storm Sandy, it seemed ironic to be talking about the beauty of nature and seeing God’s loving hand, when so much had been destroyed by the storm…Fortunately, as early as last spring, flowers again began emerging from plants savaged by the storm; grasses emerged from lifeless sand; migrating shorebirds found food to survive in their habitats. Miracles of nature’s recovery all around, to give us hope.”

Sayre’s passion for capturing nature’s beauty has been well-recognized in recent years, as he has excelled in local, national and international competitions. As a member of the Ocean County Camera Club, one of the region’s leading camera clubs, Sayre has been among its top “salon” competitors. This past winter one of his pictures was featured at the juried Grounds for Sculpture photography exhibit. His works have also been accepted in competitions sponsored by the Photographic Society of America, the New Jersey Federation of Camera Clubs, the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society, the NJ Marine Science Consortium, and the juried Wilmington International Photography Exhibit.

Both the exhibit and reception are free and open to the public. The exhibit will be displayed at the Toms River Branch in McConnell Gallery (1st floor) and is available to view during normal business hours – Monday-Thursday 9 a.m.-9 p.m. and Friday-Saturday 9 a.m.-5 p.m.

The Toms River Branch of the Ocean County Library is located at 101 Washington Street in downtown Toms River, New Jersey. For more information about this event, please call 732-349-6200 ext. 5101 or visit http://www.theoceancountylibrary.org.
