Ice cream, Sparks & a Toms River celebration

Sparks and a new friend.

People from throughout Ocean County converged on Main Street in Toms River Saturday afternoon for the twelfth annual Ice Cream Festival, and they had a great time.

People were able to vote on their favorite ice cream flavor and participate in an ice cream eating contest.

They not only enjoyed hundreds of gallons of ice cream, they were also treated to musical performances by local bands and disc Jockeys. Inflatable rides and games kept the kids entertained and vendors displayed handcrafted items and sold snacks.

Sparks, the Ocean County Library mascot, circulated through the crowd, promoted the library’s programs and ushered people in to view the headquarters branch.

The next Downtown Toms River event, Harvest Arts Festival, will be held 11:30 a.m. Saturday Sept. 18. For more information go to their website .
