Technology classes @ Toms River

TOMS RIVER – The Ocean County Library’s Toms River branch held an introductory Internet class Friday August 1 in its computer lab.

The class taught students the basics of online communication, describing what the Internet is and its benefits for research. It demonstrated how to use browsers, basic searching principals, domain names, and verifying authoritative websites.

The class was taught as a collaboration between teen volunteers in the summer-long “Tech Buddies” program and staff librarians.

The August schedule for computer classes at the Toms River branch include:
9:30 a.m. Tue. Aug. 5, “Word 2010”
9:30 a.m. Fri. Aug. 8, “Be an Online Detective”
2:30 p.m. Mon. Aug. 11, “Universal Class Online”
10 a.m. Tue. Aug. 12, “Mouse/ Basics Computer Skills”
2:30 p.m. Tue. Aug. 19 Facebook Basics
2:30 p.m. Fri. Aug. 22, “Reference USA Database”
9:30 a.m. Tue. Aug. 26, “Yahoo E-mail 1”
2 p.m. Wed. Aug. 27, “MS PowerPoint 2010”
