Art reception & program at Stafford 11/17

MANAHAWKIN –    Kate Nearpass Ogden, PhD and art history professor at the Richard Stockton College of New Jersey, will present the talk: The Art of China – A Personal Experience 7 p.m. Monday November 17th at the Stafford branch of the Ocean County Library.

The talk will cover the art and architecture in three cities: Beijing, Datong, and Xi’an, focusing on famous “must-see” locations: the Forbidden City, the Terracotta Warriors, the Buddha Caves of Datong, the Great Wall, and the National Museum of China.  It will also include some personal experiences along the way, such as the Chinese culture of gift-giving, tea ceremonies, and the search for great dumplings.

There will also be a reception beginning at 6 p.m. honoring the following Pine Shores Art Association artists: Mary Walker Baptiste, Irene Bausmith, Elaine Marie Biddulph, Joan Dandeo, Paul Hartelius and Ilomay Pedicini, whose art will be showcased in the branch from November through February. Artwork is for sale through participating artists.

The Stafford branch is located at 129 N. Main St. in Manahawkin. This program is free and open to the public.
