Teen, Tween August projects offered at Manchester

MANCHESTER – The Manchester library branch, 21 Colonial Dr., has science-themed activities scheduled throughout August in keeping with this year’s national teen summer reading theme, Spark a Reaction.

4:30 p.m. Tuesday August 5: Shark Week Crafts- ages 12 to 18. Make your own “Jaws” party hat.

11 a.m.Friday August 8: Light Painting- ages 12 to 18. Learn about this fascinating technique of photography.

6:30 p.m. Tuesday August 12: Pokémon Club- ages 11 to 16. Do battle in video games, trade cards, and talk about all things Pokémon! With your parents’ permission, of course. Bring your DS and other games.

1 p.m. Wednesday August 13: Teen Book Chat- ages 12 to 18. Bring a book that you recently read that you enjoyed or found interesting so you can tell the rest of the group about it. It can even be something from your school summer reading list!

2 p.m. Monday August 18: Tie Dying- ages 11 to 16. In addition to making something, you will find out about the history of this craft as it evolved from different cultures.

5 p.m. Tuesday August 19: Magic Workshop- ages 11 to 16. Magician Debbie Pease will teach you tricks to stump your family and friends!

2 p.m. Tuesday August 26: Teen Movie Afternoon- ages 12 to 18. The film will be determined by the attendees. Popcorn will be provided.

10:30 a.m. Friday August 29: Art with Friends- Various crafts for those with special needs. Open to kids, tweens and teens.

Teen Manga & Anime Club @ Stafford

MANAHAWKIN – The Stafford branch, 129 N. Main St. in Manahawkin, will hold a meeting of the Anime and Manga Club 7 p.m. on Thursday, July 31st.  

Teens are invited to watch anime, discuss old favorites and new releases, share fan art, and learn about Japanese culture.

Manchester Teen Advisory Board meeting April 7

MANCHESTER – Teens in grades 7 through 12 are invited to the monthly meeting of the Manchester branch’s Teen Advisory Board (TAB) 6 p.m. Monday, April 7.

Participants can earn community service while volunteering at the library! Help plan future teen activities at the library, decorate the Teen Zone, and assist the library staff with projects as needed.

Teens: Learn soul food cooking @ Manchester

 Jennifer Klein, a registered dietician employed by ShopRite of Manchester, will show students in grades 7 through 12 how to cook soul food dishes with a healthy twist 5 p.m. Tuesday, February 25 at the Manchester branch. 

She will prepare easy recipes that teens can try at home and will provide samples for everyone to taste!

Join in the fun! Teen Valentine craft

MANCHESTER – Teens are invited to drop by the Manchester branch Friday, February 14 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. to make heart themed crafts out of paper- 3D hearts and heart collages. All art supplies will be provided by the library.

Tweens, Teens Pokemon @ Manchester

MANCHESTER – Pokémon fans ages 11 to 16 are invited to the monthly meeting of the Manchester branch’s Teen/Tween Pokémon Club on Tuesday, February 11 taking place from 6:30 pm to 7:30 pm. We will do battle in video games, trade cards, and talk about all things Pokémon! With your parents’ permission, of course, bring your DS and other games and make new friends who share your passion for Pokémon.
