Torre Sibiliana performs in Toms River

The Ocean County Columbus Day Parade Committee, Inc. sponsored a performance of “Torre Sibiliana Citta di Petrosino” Friday Oct. 7 in Mancini Hall. The group provided folkloric music and dance from their northwest area in Sicily.  They performed over the weekend during the annual Seaside Heights Italian American festival.

Cav. Mario A. Maranowas the Master of Ceremonies.  The 4th Degree Knights of Columbus (John D. McMahon Assembly 1926) posted the arch and the Ocean County Sheriff’s Department posted the colors.

Luigi Marciante, Jackson, is this year’s Parade Grand Marshal.

Rachel Guerra sang the Star Spangled Banner.  Torre Sibliana sang Inno di Mameli, the Italian National Anthem.

Cav. Gilda Rorro Baldassari, Chair of the NJ Italian and Italian American Heritage Commission, was the Key Note speaker.  Parade and festival chairman Michael Blandina also spoke.

Freeholder Director Joseph H. Vicari and Freeholder Gerry P. Little presented proclamations from the county to the Mayor and other officials from Petrosino.

As in past Columbus Day concerts, this year’s group played to a full house.

Torre Sibiliana to perform @ TR-OCL

Kick up your heels and celebrate Columbus Day in style with a rousing performance by Italian musical dance troupe Torre Sibiliana on Friday October 7th at 1:00pm at the Toms River branch of the Ocean County Library, 101 Washington Street.

This internationally acclaimed group has appeared on Italian TV and has performed in Italy, France, Greece and Spain.

All are welcome to come celebrate the folklore, traditions and spirit of Italy through music and dance. For more information about this free program, please call the library at 732-349-6200. The event is sponsored by the Ocean County Columbus Day Parade Committee, Inc.
